Hanley Brite
My mission in the world is to help individuals and organizations achieve success and fulfillment through focused and principled leadership, conscious action, authentic communication and effective decision-making. I founded Authentic Connections to fulfill this mission by providing services that allow people to connect to themselves, their work and communities with a deeper sense of vitality and authenticity. I have more than 30 years of experience as an executive, business leader, personal executive advisor/mentor and facilitator. I spent the first 18 years of my career inside large companies; at Dow Jones and Company and Digital Equipment Corporation taking on a series of line management, learning development and internal consultative roles. In 1986 I left large company life to pursue my passion for Leadership Development and Transformational Change . Over the last number of years, I have immersed myself in gaining a deep understanding in the relationship between the engaged employee, their leadership and their ability to achieve higher levels of performance. I have also designed and facilitated numerous seminars and workshops in the areas of Leadership Development, Personal Mastery, Transformative Change, Achieving Team Excellence, Communications and Conflict Management. An engineer by trade, I received my training and education in the field of Organizational Development through the National Training Labs and the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. I recently was certified as an Enneagram Teacher through Enneagram Worldwide.
In 2003 I expanded my mission by taking on the role of Director of Program Operations for the Quest for Global Healing, a symposia of world leaders, concerned global citizens and innovative thinkers in pursuit of a more collaborative, peaceful, and sustainable future for humankind and the planet. I left that role in 2006 to join the Executive Board of the Bali Institute for Global Renewal, the sponsoring organization for the Quest events. I live in the San Francisco Bay area with my wife, Nancy and apply the same enthusiasm I have for my work to my cooking, photography and backpacking.

My passion is leading and serving project and leadership teams to deliver major change. Prior to being part of Authentic Connections, I spent 22 years as a management consultant and program manager at Deloitte Consulting and Interaction Associates, and 6 years consulting inside at Intuit. I joined Authentic Connections to get to work with Hanley and Saara again… a great team. I also get to help organizations implement their strategic plans in ways that engage leaders and employees, so that they deliver great results that stick.
What is important to understand about how I approach my work is that I bring organization development depth and program management rigor. The organization development depth helps me assess the systemic dynamics, engage people in focusing on the key leverage points and coach individuals and teams to help them play from their strengths and work through barriers to success. The program management rigor ensures that the decisions that get made are then grounded in realistic plans with measurable milestones / deliverables, clear accountability and follow-through. If you want to learn more about what this involves, check out “Making the Vision Real” in Knowledge Directions.
With all that said, I received my B.S. from Brown University and my MBA from University of California, Berkeley (where I still live). When not working, you will find me traveling and backpacking, then sharing my favorite few photos from each trip.

For over 20 years now, I have been committed to ensuring that senior leaders clearly know how to maximize their leadership talent. I coach them to understand their responsibility not just to contribute their best, but to enable their teams, organizations and communities to do so as well. Oftentimes they discover things about themselves they never realized. I’ve worked as an executive advisor in public sector organizations, advanced technology companies, start-ups, as well as mature, global businesses. I challenge leadership to constantly ask of themselves and others, “how am I making a difference here and what do I need to do better?” Working with me, you’ll find my style is pragmatic and realistic in manner, creative in solution-generation and sensitive to the individual personalities; my focus is on improving performance in a way that doesn’t compromise one’s true self.
I’ve always known this is what I was supposed to do. I have undergraduate and master's degrees in Organizational Communication. I’m certified in Korn Ferry’s Executive and Leadership Assessments, PDI 360 Executive and Leadership Assessments; Myers-Briggs Instrument; Interaction Associates Leadership, Teams and Facilitation Education; DDI Teams Training. I reside in the San Francisco Bay Area, as I have almost all of my life, with my hubby of many years, an energetic, young son who is the light of my life, and our very sweet dog, Emma.
